Today was another challenging day. Today I received a letter from one student parents' who were deeply upset that I requested that an atlas be brought to school for use during history classes.

The letter was very strained with anger. I responded diplomatically and humbly as was needed. The challenges continued.....

Challenging Discipline

Had many run-ins with the students and it is but the third day of the school week. I can't help and I can't let up. I must be consistent at all points.

As I have stated at each point it isn't about being liked but about being respected.

Tough Love

Today I had to be part of the disciplinary action for two students whose skirts were too short.... rip out hems, rehem, if not possible skirts have to be worn as is.... really tough love..

Today one of my students brought me food.. part of an assignment that was only to be written. The task - to find out the main food eaten by the Indigenous People of the Americas. Alongside students would use this information to invent there own recipe, listing ingredients and naming the meal. It was very thoughtful action of A and her mom. Much appreciated. Actions that makes my job so rewarding..

So far the day has advanced quite well.. but still so much room for improvement.

Trials and Errors

I keep losing tracks. I am not delivering as I need to do... Why am I not reaching my students the way that I need to?

A Good Day of Teaching

Had a full day of teaching which exhausted me. I felt as if I had no sitting down time.... I kept going and going.

Did demonstration with my subject areas today, Geo and History.... This school year I am spending time making sure that my students understand and really understand... I am also going to get my students to be critical and creative thinkers.... Less chalk and talk... More interactions and student focus learning....

Second Day of Teaching

Today is another day. I just gave my students the law of the land. The day is not yet finished and already I am exhausted. I had my green smoothie but that may not be enough.

Have to get my planning done for tomorrow. So many things that I have to do. Packed agenda as always..... But I must give my students the best.

School officially restarted today. Met my 2S girls and went through the information with the Form Teacher.

Had a hard time on public transport this morning.. Had to walk a long way in heals... Those heals though beautiful, boy is my feet hurting so much now... I left school to buy a flat shoe and ended up buying a more comfortable shoe with less heel.....

Today was a lesson in spending money with a key to budgeting. I took S with me to give her an idea of how I spend money with a key to money management. I give her the freedom to pick what she wanted and to do the cashier exchange. In the end she summarized that I love a bargain. True

Items purchased by her included shoes, slippers and hair treatment. It was a fun and interesting day out with her.

This class will continue on. Even I am on this continuous journey of money management.

Procastination.... I am so procastinating on getting my work done for History Term 1 Year 2015... Started a bit yesterday but not in a thorough way.

I believe I did a rough outline for Form 1/Grade 7- Form 3/Grade 9.

Staff Meeting

Had staff meeting today at school. Was assigned to be a Form Teacher Assistant, not a job I wanted. I was so running away from this job.

It was comprehensive and ran for about 3hrs. I don't believe any stones where left unturned. 

I am trying my best this year to be a better teacher, to do beyond what I ordinarily do and to give students my 100% and a bit more where needed.
